Christmas is coming up and I couldn’t be more excited! Hello snowy days, holiday gatherings, and a whole lot of winter activities to match the mood.

After last year’s extravaganza, I’m definitely in the mood to get super social for the holidays this year, but I’ll also be making the effort to recharge my batteries by cozying up to a ton of Christmas movies for adult to get me feeling more festive than ever.

There is nothing quite like tucking yourself in a cozy blanket with a cuppa and watching a movie or two during a chilly December evening. If you’re feeling up for a few hours spent watching Christmas movies, here are just a few of my favorite recommendations of Christmas Movies for adults.

Three over-stressed moms try their hardest to enjoy the holiday season while juggling Christmas shopping, cooking, and the entire craziness that comes with the festivities. Their plans, however, come to a halt when their respective mothers show up unannounced. What could possibly go wrong?

During the First World War, an unofficial Christmas truce brings together soldiers from France, Germany, and Scotland. Even though the agreement to cease fire and celebrate the holidays was short-lived, this movie turns into a heartwarming story of a temporary respite from battle.

As the soldiers take a break to enjoy an evening in No Mans Land, they share stories of Christmas back home and get to know each other as what they ultimate are: human beings. Joyeux Nöel’s events were based off on a true story but here’s a little warning: it might get you shedding a few tears.

The Ref

The Ref follows the story of a cat burglar named Gus who ends up having to take a married couple hostage due to a series of unfortunate events. To his dismay, the couple turns out to be a bit of a dysfunctional one, and they can’t seem to let go of their marital troubles even in the mids of a kidnapping. As time goes by, Gus winds up becoming the couple’s arbitrator, all while trying to escape the police and ahem, the couple’s troublesome extended family who are just about to arrive for Christmas.

A true classic and one that needs to be on every adult’s Christmas repertoire! This film gets you reflecting on life, successes, failures, and pretty much everything in between, including the moments that make us keep going when things look bleak.

In the mood for a cheesy Christmas rom-com? The Holiday is just what you’re looking for, especially if you’re currently feeling a little lost in life during this holiday season.

This movie tells the story of two women who decide to turn their lives upside down by completely changing their surroundings during the holiday season. Cameron Diaz movies to a tiny house in England while Kate Winslet goes for a new home in Los Angeles. Think empowering moves, crazy travel stories, and Christmas romances to match the mood to get an idea of what this heartwarming Christmas movie is all about!
