5 Bingeable Shows if You Loved the Witcher

I'm going to be honest, one of the most fun shows I've watched in a long, long time was Netflix's The Witcher. It's serious, funny and really just a dang good show.

The depth of character, the dry humor, the frank and un-adulterated relationships laid-bare and raw? Yeah, yeah…and the monster killing! I loved that part. I mean…the first episode…the first SCENE.

And then–well, I obviously could go on and on about The Witcher, I really could. But the fact is that there's only one season out so far and they've had to stop the production on season two for the time being, so we've got some time before we get any more enigmatic “hmmmm” and “toss a coin” action.

What we need is more series that are equally as cool as (or attain some kind of level near that of) The Witcher. We need 5 bingeable shows if you loved The Witcher–and I've been bingeing to bring you just that.

5 Bingeable Shows if You Loved the Witcher

Carnival Row - Season 1
  • Amazon Prime Video (Video on Demand)
  • Orlando Bloom, Cara Delevingne, Simon McBurney (Actors)

Carnival Row

Amazon Prime's wild and wonderful version of “Fantastic Beasts” but with a sexy, adult twist, Carnival Row is literally a visual feast. Monsters, fairies, intrigue and light dry humor–everything you need for sci-fi-fantasy enjoyment. Plus, some A-list actors are bringing their talents to the series, led by Cara Delevingne and Orlando Bloom. This is definitely a series you don't want to miss.

The Last Kingdom, Season 1
  • Amazon Prime Video (Video on Demand)
  • Alexander Dreymon, Rutger Hauer, David Dawson (Actors)

The Last Kingdom

Netflix just announced that it's given the green-light for a fifth season of this series, if that tells you ANYTHING. And it should. Netflix is notorious for cutting a series at three seasons unless it's hitting it out of the park–and The Last Kingdom is definitely doing that. Epically stunning visual arts and on-key acting, this series will grip you from the first words through every episode. There's not much humor in this one and it's pretty gritty. And there's not a monster in sight as it's not really science-fiction fantasy, but rather historical non-fiction. But the gritty drama is so good, you forget all about that while you watch the Vikings and English fight for every inch. | Stream The Last Kingdom on Netflix

Game of Thrones - Season 1
  • Amazon Prime Video (Video on Demand)
  • Sean Bean, Mark Addy, Peter Dinklage (Actors)

Game of Thrones

Forget the crappy feedback you heard about Season 8. Just don't buy into it. It's not worth it. Grab a seat and start the series. If you want, you can just pretend the show was canceled at the end of season 7. Or you can push through and get the satisfaction of some kind of ending. But you'll have enjoyed HBO's jewel-of-the-genre that reigned supreme for 8 seasons. Which is pretty epic in and of itself. But more than that–the hype is totally worth it. Stunning visual effects, great story, and depth of characters, this one is worth sitting through every minute (even the dreaded season 8).

The Dark Crystal
  • Amazon Prime Video (Video on Demand)
  • Jim Henson, Stephen Garlick, David Buck (Actors)

Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

Now, before you start laughing or write me off, take a minute to think about it. This is the most epic story of monsters and nightmares. The fighting is different than The Witcher, sure, but if you love fantasy, this is seriously up your alley. Skeksis and Gelflings battling it out–or not–are a large part of what makes the visual arts of Jim Henson Studios so powerful still to this day. But don't take my word for it. This series will grab you in the first few minutes, building up character development from the first scene, giving you visual treats that you will not find anywhere else. | Stream Dark Crystal on Netflix

The Umbrella Academy, Vol. 1
  • Gerard Way (Author)
  • English (Publication Language)

The Umbrella Academy

Here's the moment where things get really crazy. You're going to love it. You're going to hate it. And Klaus is going to end up being your favorite, despite your best efforts to love Number 1 most–but you just can't, can you? And Number 5–you'll have to admit you're a little in love with him, too. But really, this is a SUPER fun ride that, if you loved The Witcher, I'd bet you're going to love just as much. Set in modern times, this series is an epic romp into the fantastic–no matter what your definition of “fantastic” might be. | Stream The Umbrella Academy on Netflix
