A mob boss releases a bunch of snakes on a plane to kill a witness testifying against him. Samuel L. Jackson brings together those on the flight to try to fight the snakes. Soon it turns into a fight for their lives as the snakes try to take the plane down and the passengers must do everything they can to stop them.

The plane he starts the trip on lands early in Kansas due to bad weather. He then meets Del Griffith, played by John Candy, a chatty and all to friendly man who is going in the same direction. The movie follows all their misadventures and the humor that ensues as all their efforts to get home are met with travel problems.
