4 Useful Action-Hero Skills That You Can Learn

As you watched an action-packed movie featuring Dwayne Johnson or Jason Statham, one of your friends might have said, “I could do that.”

There’s not much chance that the average person could pull off one of the impressive physical feats that those men pulled off, but you can learn some of the skills they display onscreen. Read below to discover four useful action-hero skills that you can learn.

Martial Arts

One thing you can do to gain an action hero skill is to learn self-defense. Many martial arts fighting styles are available to learn that will help you defend yourself if necessary.

Lockpicking

You will often see The Rock or Statham playing a police officer who must pick a lock to get into a criminal’s hideout. Although you won’t ever be in a situation like that, you can learn about lockpicking.

After picking up a lock pick set, you can train yourself to become better at opening complicated locks. If your friends lock themselves out of their car or home, they can rely on you to let them back in instead of paying for a locksmith. In that case, you would get to be an actual hero.

Adaptability

Another useful action hero skill that you can learn is the ability to be more adaptable. In movies, action heroes often must go with whatever card fate deals them.

Real life can be the same way. By being more adaptable, you can better deal with ups and downs, whether in your life or your job, so you can be calm, collected, and productive when you must address any issues that come your way.

Time Management

The heroes are usually under a deadline when they need to save the world but must get many tasks done first. You can take a page from your silver screen icons by learning similar time management skills.

Learning to manage your time can help you stay focused when dealing with work or personal deadlines. Doing so will improve your ability to get important everyday jobs done and convey a better sense of responsibility to your peers.

You will likely never have to cope with the dangers that The Rock or Statham deal with onscreen, and that’s a good thing. But having these skills can make you excel and feel like a hero every now and then.
