Cheerleading Shows on Netflix
There are two great cheer shows on Netflix.
Cheer Squad (2016)
Follow the Great White Sharks, a world-champion cheerleading squad, as they juggle the pressures of training, school, work and relationships.
This Canadian reality television series that debuted on ABC Spark on July 6, 2016.
It follows the Canadian cheer team the Great White Sharks as they work together on the road to world championships. As of 2018, there is only one season, with no clear plans to renew the show.
There were 10 episodes of approximately 42 minutes each.
The Cheer Squad Netflix rating is TV-PG.
Common Sense Media recommends this show for kids age 10+. (Although parents have said 9+ is ok along with kids 9 and older watching the show, too.)
It’s mild and contains lots of positive themes about working hard, teamwork, and having goals.

This gripping docuseries follows the ups and downs of Navarro College’s competitive cheer squad as they work to win a coveted national title. (Stream on Netflix)
There were six episodes of approximately 60 minutes each.
Common Sense Media recommends this show for kids age 14+. (Although parents have said 13+ is ok along with kids 13 and older watching the show, too.)
Themes include perseverance, teamwork, personal growth, and the value of family and friendship. SLanguage is rare but does include the use of “f–k” and “b—-.” The show does address some darker themes as well, including drug use, suicide, and sexual abuse.
